Contributions to Class (the value you add to everyone's learning: thoughtful questions, pertinent answers, insight, logic, substance, and always courtesy - more than mere attendance) | 10% |
Reading journal (a sample of your engaged, thoughtful, substantive response to assigned readings and class discussion since the last collection - usually every 5 meetings; cumulative average) | 15% |
Collaborative performances and associated short essays (cumulative average: performances 5%, essays 10%) | 15% |
First in-class examination | 20% |
Second in-class examination | 20% |
Final examination | 20% |
Penalty for excessive absences (see below) | the Contribution component loses 2.5% for each absence falling within the definition of excess (see below) |
